Seasoning Wipes Maintenance Guide
Seasoning Wipe Daily Usage Guide:
-
Wash cookware, be sure to remove all food residue.
-
Completely dry cookware surfaces with towel/napkin or by placing on stove and heating.
-
Place cookware on stove and heat on medium until surface is warm, but not smoking. Warm/hot cast iron will transfer the oils from the wipe to the surface of the cast iron.
-
Using a single wipe, fold or “scrunch” into a ball and coat the entire surface of the cookware. Only a thin layer of seasoning oil is needed.
-
If cast iron is very hot, oils may smoke upon applying - this is okay.
-
You should not see any pooling. Less is more in cast iron seasoning.
-
Continue heating just until smoke begins to appear from the cookware.
-
Remove cookware from the heat source and let cool until next use.
Oven Seasoning Guide:
- Pre-heat oven to 425.
- Wash cast iron, be sure to remove all food and loose pieces
- Completely dry cookware surfaces with towel/napkin or by leaving in the oven for 5-10 minutes.
- Using our Seasoning Wipes, wipe entire surface, inside and out of the cookware
- If cast iron is very hot, oils may smoke upon applying - this is okay.
- Place cookware back inside the oven face down and set time for 1 hour
- After 1 hour Inspect cookware. You should not see any pooling and the surface should be a matte in color and appear to be "dry" looking
- If pooling has occurred and the seasoning looks "rough", "textured", "wet", or "sticky" place back in over for another 30 minutes.
- If you do have pooling still present, you can wipe the surface with a paper towel to see if it is sticky. If its still sticky, we recommend baking longer.
- Turn off oven and let cookware naturally cool.
- Repeat this process 2-3 times.
